“변호사는 반드시 부정직할 것이라는 막연한 대중적 믿음이 있습니다. 막연하다고 말하는 이유는 국민들이 변호사에게 어느 정도의 신뢰와 명예를 부여하고 있는지 생각해 보면 부정직하다는 인상이 매우 뚜렷하고 선명하게 드러나지 않기 때문입니다. 그러나 그 인상은 거의 보편적인 보편적인 인상입니다.
